    Excerpt from"Eary New England People": Samuel was a large land-owner, most of the square bounded by High, State, Green and Harris Streets belonging to him. It was called his town farm. He also had a farm in West Newbury, and another in Pelham, N.H. The produce of his farms he shipped to the West Indies, in exchange for coffee, sugar, etc. There is a street by the name of Titcomb in Newburyport, that was named for him. He was a man of good business capacity, thrifty and influential. His mansion house was on State Street, and was afterward sold by his son William to Mr. William Balch, who took it down in 1830."
