    James "Jimmy" Forrest Slosson, 74, died at the University of Virginia Hospital on Saturday, Sept. 9 surrounded by his loving and caring family.
    He was born March 13, 1932 in Hornell, N.Y., a son of the late William and Grace Wright Slosson. He was also preceded in death by one brother, William "Billy" Slosson.
    Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Lelia Elizabeth Campbell Slosson; four children, Pamela S. Harvey, Patti S. Moon and her husband Richard, James "Chip" Forrest Slosson II and his wife Linda, and Penny S. Horner and her husband W. Harry; two sisters and their husbands, Aileen S. and Bob Wright, and Virginia S. and Jack Higgs; two brothers and their wives, Russell and Mabelle Slosson and Richard and Morelle Slosson; six grandchildren, William "Chris" Harvey and his wife Ashley, Stacie N. Moon, Amber N. Drumheller, Brooke S. Livingston and her husband Troy, Brandon W. Drumheller, and Lauren C. Moon; two great-grandchildren, Will Harvey and Elizabeth Livingston.
    A graveside service was conducted on September 12 at Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery in Afton by the Rev. John Campbell.

    Russell Allen Slosson, 75, of Waynesboro, went home to Jesus on Monday, November 29, 2010, at Shenandoah House in Fishersville.

    He was born on February 17, 1935, in Hornell, New York, a son of William and Grace Wright Slosson.

    He was a member of Saint Mark's United Methodist Church. Following his retirement from DuPont, he was a realtor for several years.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William "Billy" Slosson and James "Jimmy" Slosson.

    Surviving are his wife, Mabelle T. Slosson; his children and their spouses, Nancy and Barry Brubaker of Roswell, Georgia, and Glen and Polly Slosson of Charlottesville; two sisters and their husbands, Buddy and Bob Wright of Staunton and Virginia Lee and Jack Higgs of Waynesboro; one brother and his wife, Richard and Morelle Slosson of Waynesboro; a sister-in-law, Beth Slosson of Afton; three grandchildren, Jason A. Brubaker and his wife, Rachel, of Alpharetta, Georgia, John Russell Slosson of New York City, and Mary E. Slosson of Los Angeles; four great-grandchildren, Kyra, Caleb, Ashley, and Sydney Brubaker, all of Alpharetta, Georgia.

    A celebration of his life will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, December 4, 2010, at McDow Funeral Home. Interment will be private.

    Name:
    Richard Slosson (84) of Waynesboro entered life eternal after a valiant four-year long struggle against dementia. Richard was born in 1937 to William and Grace Wright Slosson of Hornell, New York, moving to Virginia at an early age. He graduated from Rockfish Valley High School in 1955, and married Katherine Morelle Kennedy of Batesville.

    Richard and Morelle would journey together through life for some 65 years, participating actively throughout all those years together as members of Batesville United Methodist Church. Churchman and carpenter, Richard worked as an apprentice and then journeyman carpenter and then joined the newly founded R.D. Wade Builder, Inc. in 1965. Working with Randy Wade for 35 years, Richard advanced to being a master trim carpenter, job site supervisor, draftsman, and finally as a home designer and operations manager for the company. Richard led the transition from paper-based to computer-aided design, helping to design and build hundreds of homes in Virginia.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers (Billy, Jimmy, and Russell) and two sisters (Buddy and Virginia Lee).

    Richard is survived by his loving wife Morelle and two happily married children Rick Slosson and his wife Marylee (Martin) and Debbie Slosson Carlson and her husband Eric. Together they have three grandchildren Scott Slosson (wife Sarah) of Phoenix Maryland, Megan Shorb (husband Alex) of Sparks Maryland, and Joshua Carlson of Goochland Virginia. Richard and Morelle are great grandparents of James, Callie, and Bryce Slosson, and Charlie and Lucy Jane Shorb.

    Funeral services will be held at Batesville United Methodist Church (6670 Plank Road Batesville VA 22924) at 2:00 PM on Thursday April 8th, with internment at Holly Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Charlottesville immediately following. Those wishing to acknowledge Richards's life may do so with flowers care of McDow Funeral Home in Waynesboro, or donations made to Batesville United Methodist Church, care of the parsonage at 6959 Plank Road, Charlottesville VA 22903.

    Virginia Lee Slosson Higgs of Waynesboro passed away at her home on Monday, April 17, 2017. Born April 22, 1939 she was the youngest of the six children of the late William and Grace Wright Slosson.

    She was also preceded in death by her sister Aileen Slosson Wright, and brothers James, William and Russell Slosson.

    She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and animal advocate. She enjoyed water skiing, gardening, shopping, and a good seafood dinner. Active in many civic organizations, she taught Sunday school, was a Girl Scout leader, and helped with the local Disciples Kitchen at her church, Second Presbyterian.

    Growing up she enjoyed singing, playing multiple sports, and any competitive activity against her brothers. Her greatest loves were her family and her animals, especially her poodles.

    Virginia leaves behind her husband of 55 years, R. Jack Higgs; a daughter, Lesa Higgs Osteen and son-in-law Dale A. Osteen; two very loved grandchildren, Joshua and Kristen Osteen; a brother Richard Slosson and wife Morelle; many nieces and nephews; and close family friends Lisa and Tom Enright.

    There will be an open house for family and friends on Thursday, April 20, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the home of her daughter, 304 N. Oak Ln.
