    Abram married in Dec 21, 1817...He is named in his fathers will as follows:
    I give and bequeath to my son Abram Ashley all the lands lying West of the road
    leading from Dartmouth line by my house to Assonet as far Northward as the head
    of the lane so called containing forty acres more or less with the buildings
    thereon.

    Also one third of the land which I bought of Philip Winslow, John Winslow and
    Taber Ashley excepting twenty acres, at the West end of this land, hereafter
    given to Willard Washburn said one third hereby given to my son contains seventy
    acres more or less and is to be taken off the South side of the same and is to
    be a third in quantity.

He became managing owner or agent for three vessels sailing out of New Bedford, the ship "Saratoga" and the barks "Endeavor" and "Cachalot", all sailing under the Ashley flag in Dartmouth, Massachusetts per NEHGS. He served as a private in the War of 1812 serving in the 2nd Co., of Freetown under Captain Simeon Ashley.

Thankful was born on 8 Feb 1797 in Dartmouth, Bristol Co., Massachusetts; died on 2 Mar 1884 in New Bedford, Bristol Co., Massachusetts; was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, New Bedford, Bristol Co., Massachusetts.
