1. | Thomas GREY was born on 22 Jun 1477; died on 10 Oct 1530. Notes:
Name:
They had four sons and three daughters. He was summoned to Parliament from 17 Oc 1509 by writs directed 'Thome Grey, Domino Ferrers de Groby', later as 'Thome Grey Marchioni Dorset'. On the death of his mother, Cecily, Lady Harington and Bonvile, he became Lord Harington and Bonvile. He was one of the eight Challengers at the Field of Cloth of Gold in June 1520, and promoted King Henry VIII's divorce. "Thomas Grey, marques Dorset, of Astleye" died testate aged fifty-three on 10 Oct 1530. His widow died after 6 Oct 1535.

He was imprisoned in the summer of 1580 for his zeal in the cause of his communion. He was known as the 'Valiant', and served in 1588 as a volunteer with the imperial army in Hungary against the Turks, and having taken a standard from the enemy at Gran, in Hungary, was created by the Emperor Rudolph II, on 14 Dec. 1595, a Count of the Holy roman Empire. He was created Baron Arundell of Wardour, co. Wilts, on 4 May 1605.
Thomas married Mary WRIOTHESLEY on 19 Jun 1585 in Settlement. Mary was buried on 27 Jun 1607 in Tisbury, co. Wilts. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
