    Gerstenmaier, Douglas W., 79, of Randolph died Nov. 15, at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph. He was born Apr. 22, 1926, in Darien, Conn., the son of Charles and Irene (Austin) Gerstenmaier. He graduated from Darien High School where he was a star football player. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and had been a maintenance man at New Canaan High School for 15 years. Mr. Gerstenmaier was a life member of the Noroton Heights, Conn., Fire Department since 1947, and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He moved to Vermont in 1990 to be with his family. Survivors include his son, Douglas C. Gerstenmaier of Braintree; daughters, Connie Schultz of Brookfield, Diane Gerstenmaier of Randolph, and Jodi Gerstenmaier of Oak Ridge, N.J.; brother, Charles Gerstenmaier of Darien, Conn.; sisters, Muriel Nolan and Ruth Leonard, both of Darien, Conn., and Norma Isselee of Pennsylvania; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy.
