    Sharon Slawson Day passed peacefully from this life on June 6, 2012 at UMMC due to complications that arose from a latent diagnosis of lung cancer. At the time of her passing, she was comforted by her immediate family and loved ones.

    Sharon was born on April 25, 1956. She lived her life born and raised in the Metro area. After she schooled and careered across the southeast, she returned home to Mississippi to be with her family in the late 90's.

    Sharon "Sherry" graduated from Pearl High School in the Class of '74. She graduated Valedictorian at Jackson State University. Later she graduated from Ole Miss with a MBA and a Juris Doctorate. She retired recently to her home to enjoy the peaceful life of gardening, crafting, and spending quality time with her grandchildren.

    Sharon is survived by her children: Stacey Day Mitchell (Clay) of Brandon, Jason Daniel Day of Pearl, and Garrison Fletcher Gibbons of Brandon. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren (Matthew, Kaylea, and Aiden). Additional survivors are Marie Wiggins Slawson (mother) and Earnest "Ernie" Earl Slawson Jr. (brother).

    She was preceded in death by Earnest "Earl" Slawson, Sr (father). Joining the family in mourning her passing, there are a host of cherished relatives and friends.
    She was a passionate and strong hearted woman that celebrated her life through her love of music, art, and literature. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 9th at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Pearl with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM.
