    He was born April 19, 1927 to Clark C. and Fern Maude Byrne Carter. They preceded him in death.

    He is survived by his wife, Marilyn G. Carter; his first wife, Ruth Marie Layden Carter and their six children, Christopher (Eileen) Carter, Carol Ann Carter, Bridget (Tom) Carter Frank, Mary Hardy, John Terrence (Meryl Kramer) Carter and Thomas Clark (Celeste Widolff) Carter and 11 grandchildren, Courtney, Connor and Moira Dugan, Tricia and Kevin Frank, Kyle, Claire and Grant Hardy, Zev and Aidan Carter and Doyle Carter.

    He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
