  1. 1.  Nathan WILLARD was born on 28 May 1726 in Lunenburg, Worcester, Massachusetts, USA; died between 2 Dec 1782 and 23 Mar 1785.

    Name:
    He was a soldier and afterward a captain and commander of Fort Dummer (at Brattleboro, Vt.) in 1755 and 1756. Was also at Ashuelot, N.H., some time, and a town officer at Hinsdale, N.H., in 1754. Was also one of the proprietors of Westminster, Vy., but did not live there, but at Brattleboro, Vt. He sole to William Willard, of Putney, Vt., husbandman, February 20, 1760, a tract of land in Winchester, N.H.

    He made his will December 2, 1782, beginning thus: "I, Nathan Willard of Brattleborough in the county of Cumberland and the state of New York," etc., thus bearing witness to the claims which New York was at the time maintaining to the soil of the Green mountain state; the Willards generally supported New York's authority. In this will, which was proved March 23, 1785, he gave his estate to his wife and all the children.
