    ________________________________________________

Monday morning at an early hour, John W. Pratt, aged 84, died at his home in First Street, this city, after a continuous residence here of over 77 years. Mr. Pratt had been in feeble health for several months and his death was not unexpected. The deceased had been a successful business man, with a keen interest in all that related to Fulton and its welfare, and his tall figure was very familiar to our residents, as he daily traversed our streets, even after age and disease had made it a task for him to get about. The funeral will be held from his late home Wednesday, the Rev. Vincent officiating, and the body will be laid to rest in the family vault in Mount Adnah. John W. Pratt, son of Timothy and Hannah Baynor Pratt, was born at Manlius Square, August 4, 1818. At the age of 27 John W. began business for himself, renting from his father a portion or his mill property. He built boats extensively; he afterwards went on to Tonawanda and continued in this line. While actively engaged in building and milling, he had also a large farming interest....... the rest of obit is illegible.

Funeral services, were held at his late home Tuesday afternoon; interment in Mt. Adnah. Mr. Pratt was a native of Fulton and attended the public schools of this city. He removed to Buffalo while a young man and engaged in business there for 25 years, returning to Fulton about ten years ago. The Pratt family were among the pioneers of this section and were holders of a large amount of real estate, as well as being engaged in business. Considerable of the realty was disposed of at good prices, but they hold considerable yet. Among their possessions are city property and a large farm near the city. Mr. Pratt was a member of the Masonic order in Buffalo; he was also a member of the Fulton Citizens club, the Presbyterian church here and the Billy Sunday club of Syracuse. During the Peacock revival here several years ago, Mr. Pratt was an enthusiastic supporter of the evangelist and was one of the organizers of the Men's club afterwards. Mr. Pratt was one who made friends of all he met and retained their friendship. He took an interest in everything that tended to increase the growth of his home town. For the past three years Mr. Pratt's health has been poor, but during the past few months the change for the worst was noticeable. Heart trouble developed and he went to Clifton Springs for treatment. He failed to secure the relief hoped for and returned home two weeks, ago. Other attacks followed after his return and he passed away Sunday
    morning.
