Excerpt from "A Genealogy of The Kidder Family": He resided in California, where he joined the First California Volunteers at the commencement of the Civil War, serving among the Indians and Mormans about Great Salt Lake. He was honorably discharged at the close of the war, and is supposed to have been waylaid and killed by Indians or others on his return to California.
