    Dan died March 25, 2017. Funeral services will be held in the chapel at First Presbyterian Church at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 28, 2017 with Rev. Rhodes Stipp officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at First Presbyterian Church of Shreveport at 9:30 until 10:45.

    The son of a farmer and an elementary school teacher descended from pioneering families, Dan was born in a log cabin in Union Parish and reared on a two-mule, 100 acre hill country farm.

    He graduated from Farmerville High School and attended three colleges ? Copiah Lincoln, Mississippi Southern, and Louisiana Tech, getting his BS from Tech in May 1943. He played varsity sports in all three and was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame at Co-Lin. He received a commission to Midshipman?s School at Columbia University in Nov. 1943 and served aboard the USS Anne Arundel (P-76) as an attack boat officer, participating in the invasions of Normandy (D-Day), Southern France, and Okinawa. He remained in the Ready Reserve of the Navy until 1958, when he transferred to United States Air Force. He retired from USAF Reserve in 1983 at the rank of Lt Colonel.

    Mr. Albritton resided in Shreveport since 1951. One of the first physical therapists in the country, he was graduated from the School of Physical Therapy at Stanford University in 1949. He practiced Physical Therapy, primarily in the Shreveport area, for 40 years, retiring from Schumpert Medical Center in 1988 after 27 years there. He served as Deacon and Elder at both Trinity Presbyterian Church and First Presbyterian Church, from which he received the honor of Elder Emeritus in 2009. He taught in the Adult Sunday School Department at those churches for more than 20 years.

    He was predeceased by his parents, Joe Ollie and Elise Slawson Albritton; brother, Joe C. ?Buck? Albritton; sister, Annette Albritton McKinnie; his first wife, Julia Brown Albritton; second wife, Gwindell Harvey Bilbray Albritton; and a granddaughter, Julia K. Spilker.

    Surviving are three daughters, Donna L. Albritton of Dallas, TX, Kathleen E. Albritton of Kennesaw GA, and Betty Albritton Hinton of Ruston, LA; eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
