  	Samuel Barker was born say 1551, probably in Wimbish, Essex, and died between 26 February 1598/9 and 16 January 1600/1, probably at Chattisham or East Bergholt, Suffolk. He married first SARAH ( ) BEDALL (possibly Beddell or Bardwell), who was the mother of his children. The only record of her was wen she was enumerated in the 26 February 1598/9 recusancy list of East Bergholt with her husband. Her married second ELIZABETH ? between 26 February 1598/9 and 16 January 1600/1, and Samuel himself died sometime within that same timeframe. Elizabeth was named several times as Samuel's widow; however, the recusancy lists are known to contain naming errors, so it is possible that the 598/9 list listed Samuel Barker's wife as Sarah in error, when she actually was named Elizabeth. If this is true, then Samuel had only one wife, ELIZABETH (BARDALL) BARKER, who was the other of his children. Nevertheless, we will refer to the children of Samuel Barker as the stepchildren of his widow Elizabeth.... [1]
