- He settled in New Milford in 1728, and received his first grant of land, May 25, 1728, west of the half-way falls adjacent or near to that of his brother John Warner. this property was probably at the "Iron Works," then called Newbury, and part of New Milford. He was a cooper by trade. June 18, 1738, he united with the church at New Milford and the children were baptized there. On October 8, 1738, there was "baptized a son of John Dean of New Fairfield, called Ebenezer, whom Joseph Walner took charge of and baptized upon his own account." The name is most frequently spelled Walner in the early New Milford records. [1]
