- Captain Augustine Warner, who came to Virginia about 1628 and settled in York County. Later, in 1656, he removed to Gloucester County, where he acquired a large estate and was prominent in the affairs of the colony. His son, Colonel Augustine, was educated in England and succeeded to his father's estate and influence in the colony. He married Mildred, the daughter of George Read, and their daughter, Mildred, married Lawrence Washington the grandfather of General George Washington. [1]
