- He was apparently the Captain of the West Division, Richmond County, Militia in 1738, and a member of the Expedition to Canada in 1746/7, resulting in his untimely end.
Nathaniel Britton, 'being in good health' made his will dated July 2, 1746, probated Feb. 24, 1746/7, witnessed by Benjamin Britton, at al., wherein he stated that he was resolved to 'adventure on the present expedition against Kenede (Canada), now in the possession of the french', and giving to his wife, Frances, his 'house and lot in Richmond County for the support of my family.' He mentioned his ownership of lots in Somerset County, NJ.
