She was unable to attend college because of the Great Depression. Jean worked as a clerk, and a legal secretary. She married Robert Yates Griffith, Jr., on 16 Nov 1945, in South Norwalk, CT. Both Jean and her husband were active members of the United Congregational Church. They are survived by two sons, and two granddaughters.
