- George Washington HACK was the first child of George HACK and Mary Ann JENKINSON HACK. He came to Sacramento in 1855 with his mother, a brother John Thomas, and a sister Annie Elizabeth. They traveled via the Isthmus of Panama. His father had arrived in 1852. George Washington HACK married Berdenia Frances KEYS 24 Nov 1868 near Antelope, California, on the farm of William KEYS, Berdenia's father. George and Berdenia had only one child, Clara, who married Dewitt S. SLAWSON, but that union produced five grand-children. George Washingoton HACK was President of the Sacramento Patrons & Farmers Mutual Life Insurance Company. He was also an officer of the Grange, local school district, and his church.
