- Excerpt from "New England Families Genealogical and Memorial: third Series, Vol. IV": George settled in Woodtock, Vermont. The Treman Genealogy states that he served on General Washington's staff in the revolution. The Connecticut rolls show that George P. Ransom was a resident of "Westmoreland", enlisting January 1, 1777, and till in the service January 1, 1780. His name appears in the list of non-commissioned officers and privates in Captain Spalding's independent company, in the expedition to Wyoming, Pennsylvanis. The Wyoming companies wre united June 23, 1778, under Captain Spalding.
