    • Elgin Every Saturday:
      "Fifty years ago last Thursday at Galway, N.Y., E.K.W. Cornell and Miss Matilda Padelford were married. Seven children blessed the union, five of whom are still living, four of them in Elgin. "Golden weddings" are comparatively rare events, an for a couple to sail together through the sea of life for half a century, enjoying good health and surrounded by their children, all grown to honorable and respected manhood and womanhood, is a privilege that falls to the lot of few. On account of the passing illness of Mrs. Cornell, the comtemplated celebration of this auspicious event, was not observed, save by the immediate family."
