    • Editor Republican ?Dear Sir: I am just home from Watseka, Iroquois County, 1LL., where I attended the ordination and installation of Mr. Edward P. Morse, late of Essex, N, Y.
Mr. Morse is a son of A. A. Morse, Esq., of Essex. The ordination took place Oct. 28th. The examination' of the candidate, particularly in Theology, was very thorough. Mr. Morse displayed full and accurate knowledge and rare ability to dearly state his theological views. The church of which he has become pastor, is Presbyterian, and It is located in Watseka, a village of about 2000 inhabitants. It is one of the most attractive towns in eastern Illinois.
It is the county seat, and is situated at the junction of the Wabash, St, Louis and Pacific and the Chicago and Eastern Illinois railroads. It is about seventy-five miles south of Chicago. The town is growing steadily. The church edifice is new and very attractive, and the congregation united and enthusiastic.
Mrs. Morse, the minister's wife, an important factor in the parish, is a daughter of Mr. Buel D. Bacon of Essex. A parsonage has just been built, which Mr. and Mrs. Morse moved into last month. On the day following the ordination a church was organized at Sheldon, ten miles east of Watseka, which, for the present, will be under the care of Mr. Morse. He will preach there once in two weeks. It was the writer's high privilege to give the "charge" to the young minister in the servlce of ordination and Installation. While a sense of propriety prevents me saying, that the charge was full of good advice, I may say that it was the utterance of a full heart, and inspired by precious memories. 0. N. Wilder.
