  	Abel Huse lived on the Bradford Road and was probably a tanner. His name appears in the lis of soldiers under the command of Captain Thomas Noyes endorsed "training day ye 26 day February 1688." it appears again in the list of the "snowshoo men" of Captain Hugh March's company belonging to the North Regiment in Essex for operations against the Indians in 1710. At a meeting of the inhabitants of the Second Parish, 17 July 1710, the presence of Corporal Abel Huse is recorded. Administration on his estate was granted to his son Abel Huse, of Ipswich 23 March 1757. The sons had received gifts from him: samuel had the farm in Methuen, 173 acres, as his share. The heirs to the estate were Abel, Stephen, and Samuel; heirs of John, deceased; daughters Judith, wife of John Holman; Sarah, Wife of Caleb Kimball; mary, wife of Enoch Davis. Sarah, wife of John, is also mentioned. The homestead consisted of 40 acres. The grandson Enoch had lived with his grandfather for a year and a half before his death (Essex Deeds and Probte Files).
