• Name	Henry HODGES  [1, 2]
  	Henry Hodges lived in Taunton on the Rehoboth road, about 3 1/2 miles from the Green, on his homestead-lot of about 50 acres. He owned several other lots of land in Taunton and Norton, and also a tract of about 100 acres in Stoughton which he gave before his death to his sons Josiah and Eliphalet, who settled there. he was selectman of Taunton 8 years, 1731 to 1735 and 1737 to 1739. He was lieut. of (prob.) the 2nd Taunton Company, which fact gives rise to the conjecture that he may have served in Queen Anne's War, but no record of such service in known. His gravestone in the West End Burying Ground (called also the Oakland Cemetery, on Glebe street) bears this inscription: - In Memory of Lev henry Hoges Who Died Septem ye 18th, 1755 in ye 70th year of his Age.
