    • William ?Bill? Bernard Flores, Sr., 95, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2019 after a short illness at the Northwest Louisiana War Veteran?s Home in Bossier City, LA. Beloved family, friends, and caretakers surrounded him during his final days.

      He was born in the Rambin Community, DeSoto Parish, LA of Spanish-French descent to William Breazeale Flores and Mary Dabney DeSoto. On his maternal side, his 6th generation grandfather, Louis Antoine Juchereau de St. Denis, founded Natchitoches, LA in 1714. On his paternal side, his 5th generation grandfather, Gill Flores, was a Spanish official who came through Mexico City to Nacogdoches, TX.

      He is a product of the Greatest Generation, having served in World War II as a Merchant Marine in the North and South Atlantic, Mediterranean Sea, Caribbean Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico during 1943-44. He joined the U.S. Army in 1944 and served in the 108th Infantry Regiment during the Philippines Campaign as an infantryman, rising to the rank of sergeant.

      He was educated as an accountant and tax consultant (enrolled agent) and had extensive service and experience in the heavy construction machinery field, serving at times as bookkeeper, office manager, parts manager, salesman, sales manager, and general manager of various construction equipment dealerships in Louisiana and Mississippi both in domestic and foreign construction equipment. He also maintained a side bookkeeping-tax service in addition to his full-time job.

      He held memberships in the Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th Degree, Order of the Alhambra, Elks BPOE, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and the Merchant Marine Combat Veterans Association. He had a very active social with his wives in many dance clubs and Krewes.

      After the death of his wife Frances Laffitte in 1966, he met and married Juanita Sutton Guidry, who took on the responsibility of his extended family of five children.

      He was preceded in death by parents, his sisters Margie Elaine Flores and Geneva Flores Evans, his brothers James Anthony Flores and twin brother Joseph Breazeale Flores, his wives Frances Laffitte Flores and Juanita Sutton Guidry Flores, his son William Bernard Flores, Jr., and his daughter Donna Carol Flores. He is survived by his son Terence Lane Flores of Mooringsport, LA, his daughter Veronica Flores Ladner of Diamondhead, MS, and his son Joseph Laffitte Flores of St. Gabriel, LA. He leaves many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close relatives.

      The family wishes to thank the Christus Highland Hospital, Christus Hospice, and the Northwest Louisiana War Veterans Home staff for their care and concern for Bill and his family.

      Kilpatrick?s Rose-Neath Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. There will be a visitation and Rosary at 10:00 a.m. prior to a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 425 McCormick Street, Bossier City, LA on Tuesday, February 26, 2019. The internment will be in Carmel Catholic Cemetery Smithport Lake, Road, Carmel, LA on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.
