Ann maria Slosson b. 31 Jan 1816, d. 1863 married Andrew Jackson Gilbert, 25 June 1836 in Chazy, Clinton Co., New York. She died between May and Dec 1863. Andrew and his elder son Herber Wells Gilbert entered the Illinois Volunteers in 1864 after her death. Herbert was 16 yrs old and his father was almost 48. He had sent his younger children to Aurora, Kane Co., Illinois to live with his older married daughters.
LETITIA JANE (aka Aunt Jennie) b. 17 May 1837
SARAH M. b. 29 Jan 1840. Both sisters married Cooley Brothers, Arvy and Ben.
CLARISSA BERTHILDA b. 30 May 1843, d. 19 Mar 1844
Alice Annette b. July 11 1845 married Mr. Wood their children were Hope who married a Mr. Hudson, Hebe, Percy, Bert and Dan. Alice d. 4 Mar 1924

HERBERT WELLS b. 20 April 1848, served 3 enlistments during the Civil War. He married Miss Angie Brooks. No children. He died in Hamilton MO, May 5, 1930.
James Heber, my gr. grandfather b. Dec 5, 1850 in Troy, NY. He married Cora Gray Mar 1, 1876. 3 children: Angie Louise, Percy Leon, my grandfather and Ruth Gray. James Heber, called "Hebe," died in St. Louis, MO 20 Jul 1923, his wife Cora Gray Gilbert died 10 Aug 1910.
EVA EDWINA youngest child of Andrew Jackson & Ann Maria Slosson Gilbert b. 6 June 1855 and d. 28 Feb 1858.
They kept a "Stage stop inn" in Daysville, Ogle Co., Ill. No grave markers found in Daysville cemetery but a picture of there Inn was found in the Ogle Co., Il Library in a scrap book in the library basement in the town of Oregon......
My great grandfather James Heber Gilbert, Ann Maria's son was a Jeweler & Engraver. He and his family (Cora, and ch. Angie & Percy) moved to Kansas City, MO. where he owned a Jewelry Store on Broadway. In the early 1880's he returned to IL when Ruth Gray Gilbert, his youngest daughter, having been born in KC., was very young. The family lived in Aurora, IL, Kane Co., were Angie & Percy had been born and eventually moved to St. Louis where my grandfather Percy married Margaret Cath. Ryan. They had 7 children, my mother being the 2nd oldest b. 1909. James Heber, wife Cora Gray and daughters Angie & Ruth all died in St.Llouis, but were entombed in the a mausoleum in Kandall Co., Montgomery, IL. The mausoleum has since been torn down and they were buried in a large plot with many others in unmarked graves. Gr. Grandmother Cora Grays grandfather founded the town which originally was called Greytown on the Fox River (ca. 1835)
