- Donald Edward Rowley, 67, of Lehigh, died peacefully surrounded by family on May 10, 2019, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge, IA.
Don was born Aug. 3, 1951, in Fort Dodge to Earl and Elva (Slawson) Rowley. He attended Central Webster schools and graduated in 1969.
He married Cheryl Puepke in 1969 and had two children from this union, Brian and Brenda. They later divorced and he married Lisa Bauers in 1998.
Don worked several places during his life: Hormel's in Fort Dodge until the plant closed in 1982, at Central Webster-Dayton schools until 1990, and construction work until he retired a few years ago.
In the mid-80s, Don went back to school to get his private pilot?s license in Webster City. He enjoyed his nightly phone calls with his daughter, Brenda, where he would tell stories of his crazy cats or old stories of his wolves and Rottweilers. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed watching old western movies. He loved listening to his grandson, Jake, play his guitar, mushroom hunting & looking for arrowheads with his granddaughter, Jamie. He had an extensive collection of Native American artifacts that he found on his land, finding his last scraper while mushroom hunting with Brian, three days before his death.
Don is survived by his wife, Lisa; son Brian (Sondra) Rowley of Tampa, FL and daughter Brenda and her two children, Jamie and Jake Steinman of Northwood, IA; brothers Ron Rowley and Steve Rowley; sister Roberta (Christos) Joanides and many nieces, nephews and friends who loved him very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Tom Rowley and Joe Rowley.
A small family service will be held later this summer. [1]
