- He is described as of Amelia County when he bought 300 acres of land on the south side in Lunenburg County on 6 Oct 1760, but was Dinwiddie County when he sold that land on 11 Aug. 1761. Richard relocated to Mecklenburg County, where he deeded five slaves and the crop on his plantation on 4 June 1810 to his son West. He made these transactions to his son in return fo supporting him and his wife Ann, "they being old and infirm." Richard conveyed the 392 1/2 acres of land where he lived to his sons Roger, West, John and Thomas. Richard had a will dated 5 Sep 1812 that was proved 12 May 1817. Richard Gregory was an American Revolution who contributed supplies and paid a supply tax in 1783. [1]
