8861 Our father lived a long life. He's sadly missed by all his remaining children. He and our mother, Florence Blakney-Ryan, had 12 children together. They were childhood friends and sweethearts and still are together in Heaven. He was born on St Valentine's Day and they were married on that same date. Our father drove for GreyHound Buses. He also was a truck driver for many years. I wish there were more men around now like him. He was patriotic, strong and didn't stand for any crap. He was "Life With Father" to a tee. *(The movie) He owned the best of cars too. Like all his Chrysler Imperials and such. We always had food and clothing even with all of us children to take care of. He was a wonderful provider and a "real" man. Hard to find one like him today. If he and many others like him were around today the nation would be in better shape. God, please, take good care of our beloved and sadly missed father. Amen RYAN, James Arthur (I3011)

EDDY, Paul (I20482)

8893 Paul received his early education in the schools of his neighborhood, and grew to manhood on the home farm, and after his marriage he bought a tract of land in another section of the town. Upon this tract of land he settled, and was engaged in farming and stock raising. He met with continued success in his undertakings and was enabled to make material improvements on his property, on which he remained to the close of his useful and well-spent life. He reached a ripe old age, honored and respected by all who knew him for his honesty and high standards. In political faith he was a staunch Republican. Mr Gates was an active and devout member of the Unitarian church, of which he was deacon for a number of years. Mr. Gates and his wife passed a well-rounded married life of almost 54 years, and they were not long separated by death. She was laid to rest beside her husband, at Ashby. Mrs. Gates was a true Christian woman, thoroughly beloved in her home, to which her best thought had always been devoted. GATES, Pearly (I24358)

8894 Paul Sears took the oath of "Fidellyte" in 1657, held a commission as captain in the militia, and made claim for a horse lost in the Narragansett war, but I find no record of his services. October 30, 1667, he was one of the grand jury, in an inquest held on the child of Nicholas Nickerson. he was one of the original proprietors of lands in harwich, between Bound and Stony brooks, known as "Wing's Purchase," as appears by deed of John Wing et als., to Pauls Seers et als., dated Apr. 1, 1677, recorded at Plymouth. SEARS, Capt Paul (I87993)

8895 Paul was born in the town of Stow, and there grew to manhood. After his marriage he removed to the town of Ashby, Massachusetts, where he bought a tract of 91 acres on which he made extensive improvements, enlarging the dwelling-house and other buildings. On this property he spent the remainder of his life, engaged in general farming, and prospered by hard work and close application to his business affairs. GATES, Paul (I24354)
