    Notes:

Excerpt from "The Wright Line": It is believed by some expert researchers that Thomas married #2? Margaret Butler, after his first wife, Mary died. There is some confusion WHEN Mary died and thus why the confusion with the second marriage. Because of these confusions, it is possible that Mary died shortly after Joseph was born, and it is possible that Thomas married again and had Joseph. Whatever may have happened, a son was born (Joseph).

    Name:
He came to Wethersfield, perhaps from Watertown, before 1639; (Judge Adams' article in Ancient Wethersfield, I, p. 317.); was on the jury of the Particular Court of Conn., Sept. 1643; Selectmen, 1658; committee on town lines, etc; Freeman, May 18, 1654 and constable, 1668/9. He was prominent in church disputes with Rev. John Russell which led many to move to Hadley, Mass. His home lot of three and one-half acres in Wethersfield, was on the west side of High Street, where his home was built, probably before 1639. It was recorded to him Feb. 11, 1640/1. He bought a house, barn and five acres of Samuel Hale on the west side of Back Lane, also the Richard Belden lot of twenty and one-half acres in the West Field in 1654. He also purchased a large part of the Great Island, thereafter known as Wright's Island and which he gave mostly to his sons, Thomas and James.

While it is generally stated that he was a son of John and Grace (Glasscock) Wright of South Weald, Essex, England, there is no absolute proof of it.

    Name:
Deacon Richard Butler was in Cambridge as early as 1632, and one of the company of first settlers there. He was freeman in 1634 and one of the church. He probably came from Braintree, Essex County, England, where others at Cambridge were from, and he and his brother, William Butler, must have come to Hartford in company with Mr. Hooker, as they are soon after found in Hartford with many others from Cambridge. His ability, integrity, and high Christian character soon won him the confidence of his townsmen, and many positions of trust were bestowed upon him by the church, town, and colony. He was a juror in 1643-4-7-8, and townsman in 1644; a grand-juror in 1660-2; one of the deacons of the church, and from 1656 to 1660 a representative in the General Court of the colony. By his first wife he had Samuel and Nathaniel; and y his second wife, Elizabeth Bigelow whom he married before he came to Hartford, Joseph; David; Mary, our ancestress who married Sergeant Samuel Wright; Elizabeth, who married Mr. Olmsted, andHannah, who married Mr. Green. Thomas and John must have been born before he came to Hartford, for they were made freeman there - Thomas in 1656, and John in 1657. His wife survived him, dying September 11, 1691.
