    Grant Charles Slauson, 94, of Roxbury died, Aug. 19, 2005, at Mountainside Residential Care Center, Margaretville, where he had been a resident since 1996.
    He was born July 30, 1911, to Orley Hiram Slauson and Effie Morse Slauson in the head of Vega, then known as the head of Buffalo. His family moved to Vega Flats, known as the Eber Cartwright Farm, and later to a new home in Meeker Hollow. He helped in the Meeker move by driving a team of horses and pulling their furnishings over the Vega-Roxbury Mountain. He also herded cattle, on foot, from Vega over the Mountain to Meeker.
    Grant married Eva Lennon on Sept. 7, 1932. They had two daughters, Dorothy M. Slauson Ruff of Kerhonkson and Eula M. Slauson of Tucson, Ariz.
    Grant was married a second time to Eva Constable on Nov. 20, 1945. They had four daughters, Lena L. and Robert Armet of Hunter, Doris H. and Craig Allison of West Oneonta, Evelyn L. and Frank Moralis of Worcester and Orilee B. Slauson Basile of Cooperstown.

    Grant had eight grandchildren, Michael and Sandy Mead of Roxbury, Kathryn Mead and Allen Tuscaney of Tucson, Teresa Alle and Bob Hostetter of Chichester, Dawn Gregory of West Oneonta, Robert B. Gregory Jr., of Oneonta, Aaron Werner of Neosho, Mo., Katherine Basile of Cooperstown and Joseph Basile of Cooperstown.

    Grant had 10 great-grandchildren, John McGee of Tucson, David McGee of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Michelle Mead and Jason York of Margaretville, Melanie Mead of Syracuse, Makayla Miller of Cortland, Heather Sawyer of West Oneonta, Jesse Campbell of West Oneonta, Matthew Campbell of West Oneonta, Grace Werner of Neosho, Mo., Sarah Werner of Neosho, Mo., and Jacob Grant Werner of Neosho, Mo.

    Grant had two great-great-grandchildren, Abigail Hazel McGee and David John McGee III, both of Sierra Vista.
    He is survived by two sisters, Bertha Cammer (Roxbury) and Elsie Furman (Poughkeepsie); two brothers, Milton and Charis Slauson (Amherst, Nova Scotia, Canada), and Virgil and Beverly Slauson (Rogers, Ark.); and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

    He was predeceased by three brothers, Floyd, Marshall and Marion Slauson, and a sister, Hulda Morse.

    Grant ran a dairy farm in Vega for many years. Later, he sold the farm and moved to Roxbury and worked in the Timberland charcoal plant in Stamford. After retirement, he worked for Green Thumb. His hobbies were hunting, trapping and fishing, including ice fishing.

    A service will take place, Aug. 22, at the Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury. His grandson, the Rev. Aaron Werner, will officiate. Burial will follow in Roxbury Cemetery, Roxbury.

    Grant married Eva Mae LENNON on 7 Sep 1932 in Roxbury, New York. Eva was born on 18 Jan 1915 in New York; died on 10 Sep 2001. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
