Daniel Reed was a man of considerable distinction in the community of Norwalk where he spent his whole life, and was mentioned in some writings as a tall man. Indeed, the Reeds have always been called a tall race.

About the year 1720 he built a substantial house on the farm conveyed to him by his father, about sixty rods northeast of the original house built by Capt. John Reed, and a portion of it was standing as late as 1882, when it was visited by Newton Reed. It was here that he found many of the records of the reed Family in the keeping of the descendants.

After wife, Elizabeth Kellogg died, he remarried on December 13, 1764 to Susanna Weed. "Wife Susanna," of this old-age marriage, is mentioned in his will, which was made February 8m 1774, and probated January 1, 1776.

Daniel married Elizabeth KELLOGG about 1719. Elizabeth (daughter of Joseph KELLOGG and Sarah PLUMB) was born on 5 Oct 1703; died on 13 Apr 1764. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Name:
John Reed, eldest child of John, is supposed to have been born in Rhode Island. He Married, march 28, 1687, Elizabeth Tuttle, who was born November 19, 1666. He continued to reside in Norwalk, where he appears as a voter in 1694, and he seems to have been a citizen of some importance, for after that his name frequently appears in the records of the courts in Norwalk and Stamford. He studied law, and was admitted to the Bar October 7, 1708, and the records state that he was Attorney for the Crown, and Deputy for Norwalk. The inventory of his estate was filed at Fairfield, Connecticut, November 12, 1724, page 1146. He probably died that year.

John married Elizabeth TUTTLE on 28 Mar 1687. Elizabeth (daughter of John TUTTLE and Kathareen LANE) was born on 19 Nov 1666 in New Haven, New Haven, Connecticut, USA; was christened on 21 Nov 1666. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
