    Brattleboro- Sarah Jane Brown, 97, of Glen Street, a longtime resident of West Brattleboro, died Monday morning, January 12, 2009 at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital.She was born in Dover, Delaware on July 18, 1911, the daughter of Lyman and Daisy (Cook) Glazier and soon after moved to the Newfane area where she was raised and educated, attending Leland & Gray Seminary.A former resident of Wilmington, with her husband she resided on the Wheeler Farm and had worked as a waitress at the Craft's Inn in Wilmington.The couple later moved to West Brattleboro and for many years she had been employed as a stitcher at the former Margolin Pocketbook Shop.For many years she had attended the First Congregational Church in West Brattleboro. She enjoyed gardening, attending flea markets, cooking and baking.In 1929, in Newfane, she was married to Richard H. Brown. Her husband of 35 years predeceased her in 1964.Survivors include two sons, James H. Brown, her devoted caregiver for many years, of West Brattleboro, and Richard E. Brown, formerly of Bellows Falls, now of Dunedin, FL, two grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by two grandsons, Peter Brown and Terry Brown, and two sisters, Esther and Anna.Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 3:30 P.M. at the Atamaniuk Funeral Home with Rev. Kay Hult, pastor of United Church of Bellows Falls officiating. Burial in Mount Pleasant Cemetery will take place in the springtime when the cemetery reopens.Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Saturday from 2 P.M. until the start of the services.Memorial contributions in Mrs. Brown's name may be made to, Rescue Inc, P.O. Box 593, Brattleboro, VT.
