Dorothy (Slawson) Manuel, 100, formerly of Versailles, died Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She was born July 13, 1904 in Bennington the daughter of Lyman Beecher Slawson and Ella (McHenry) Slawson, both deceased. She married Rev. Thomas Manuel on November 9, 1925 and he preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Evangeline Boyer of Concord, CA, Irene LeCompte of Zephyer Hills, FL; four sons, Russell Manuel of Las Vegas, NV, Donald Manuel of Pueblo, CO, Larry Manuel of Indianapolis, Paul Manuel of Everman, TX; one nephew, Atrie Slawson of Bennington; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Armie Slawson, Byron Slawson, Robert Slawson; and one sister, Leona Slawson Porter.

Mrs. Manuel was a homemaker and had taught Sunday school classes and helped with the music at churches her husband pastored for. Those churches were in Robinson, IL, Fulton and Huntington, IN and the Versailles Wesleyan Church.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 5, 4-7 p.m. and also Thursday, January 6, 12 noon until time of services at the Bovard-Holt-Furst Funeral Home in Versailles.

Funeral services will follow visitation at the funeral home on Thursday, January 6 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Don Jewell officiating.

Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery. Memorials may go to the Versailles Wesleyan Church.
