    Soon after his marriage, he left Warwick and settled in Somerset, Vermont, where he lived for several years. then he moved to Stratton, Vt., where he cleared a farm and built a saw-mill. he lived there until his family had grown up, when he moved to South Londonderry, where he died.

    In 1769 Abel sold out his property to his brother Thomas (Worcester Co. Deeds, 61.73) and moved to the new country of Warwick. Mass. Here he purchased a piece of land and gradually acquired a very good farm. He settled near the parents of his wife from whom she inherited a portion of a farm.

    Name:
    In the early part of his life he lived in Watertown where he was much interested in the church. The records state that on Apr. 24, 1732 Ebenezer Eddy had a side gallery pew in the meeting house in the East Precinct in Watertown. In the latter part of his life, he moved to Oxford where two of his brothers were already living. He settled at Elliott Mill Place. He was a soldier in the French and Indian War.

    From the Worcester Probate Records (18705) it is learned that Ebenezer left a wife Ruth, who refused to administer his estate and desired that her son Thomas Eddy be appointed in her place. The children mentioned are eldest son Thomas Eddy; son Abel and dau. Sarah Gleason, wife of Joseph Gleason; dau. Tabitha Towne, wife of Samuel Towne; dau. Eunice and two minor daughters Jemima and Ruth, who whose John Hart for their guardian. He was the husband of their cousin, Ruth Eddy. On Jan. 18, 1769, Thomas was made administrator and about a year later, on Feb. 1, 1770, he bought the rights to the property from all his brothers an sisters, thereby owning the property in common with his mother who still kept her thirds.

    Ebenezer Eddy settled the estate of his brother-in-law, Jonas Ward, on May 1748, at Oxford, Mass. He charged for a journey which he was obliged to make to "Exeter and Portsmouth to collect, wages due to Mr. War." From his father-in-law, Eleazer Ward, he received interest in a grist-mill in Oxford (Ward Gen.)

    Name:
    Samuel first appears on the records in 1684 as a drummer boy, whom the town refused to pay. From a deed recorded in 1700, we learn that he was a cordwainer, like his father, and that he had some education since he was able to write his name. His wife, Elizabeth, signed with her mark. In Jan. 14, 1714/15, his name appears on "a list of those who are proprietors, who are in possession of the first granted house lotts in Watertown" (Watertown Rec.). he was the public sealer of leather in Watertown for the years, 1719, 1920, 1921, 1922 (Watertown Rec. Vol. II pp. 260, 166, 278, 286)

    Samuel married Elizabeth WOODWARD on 7 Dec 1693. Elizabeth (daughter of George WOODWARD and Elizabeth HAMMOND) was born on 8 May 1664 in Watertown, Middlesex County, Massachusetts; died after 30 Nov 1707. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Eleazer Ward, and Deliverance, his wife, conveyed lands in Newton, by deed, dated March 20, 1707. He was Selectman at Newton in 1734, and removed from that town soon after. He d. before 1750/1, as on the 26th of March in that year, his wid., Deliverence, then residing at Oxford, had received an equivalent for he thirds, and on the 22d of Feb. preceding, she signed an agreement between herself and her children, touching the division of some personal property belonging to the estate of Eleazer Ward.
