    Seeley Fancher, a farmer, served in the War of 1812, enlisting 15 Sep. 1812 and discharged in New Utrecht, Long Island, 30 Nov. 1812, being of the company of Capt. Isaac Waterbury in Van buren's First Regiment, NY. Militia. he was one of the three trustees of the East Woods Protestant Methodist church when it was incorporated 16 March 1833.

    John Fancher, born in Poundridge, NY, 4 Sep 1756, baptised in the Stamford, Conn., Congregational Church 10 Oct. 1756 and died in Poundridge 17 Feb 1838, having had a long, honorable and exciting career in the forces of the revolution. he married, in South Salem, NY, 21 May 1778 SUSANNA MUNROW, daughter of James Munrow, born 13 Jan. 1755 and died in Poundridge 20 Sept 1837.

    John Fancher was a farmer. He served nearly two and a half years in the Revolution as an enlisted private. In 1775 he was under Capt. Jonathan Platt, Col. James Holmes, Fourth regiment Continental Line, Schuyler Brigade, for nine months the rendezvous being Ticonderoga. In 1776 he was under Capt. Abijah Gilbert, Col. Thomas thomas' Second Regiment of Westchester Co. Militia for eight months to build Fort Independence. In 1777, under Capt. Zephaniah Mills to keep the prison house at Bedford and to range lines to the White Plains for four months. In 1778 he was under Capt. Samuel Delivan of the Rangers for three or four months. In 1781 he was under Capt. Thomas hunt, Col. Frederick Weissenfel's Regiment of Levees for four months, with rendezvous at Saratoga. john Fancher received a pension in 1832. (Pension Records, Washington, DC) It is a family tradition that John Fancher was one of the escort to march Burgoyne's army to General Washington's headquarters.

    WEED/BROWN - See God's Country: A History of Pound Ridge, New York, by Jay Harris (1971). An error occurs in the Brown genealogy, p. 462, and "Corrections Supplement", p 14. Sarah WEED, who married Benajah BROWN, was the dau. of Jabez (Jonathan, Jonas) WEED, & Mary BATES, not of Gideon WEED (Jonas) & Sarah WATERBURY. In "Bedford Genealogy, Descendants of the Twenty-two Original Settlers, vol. IX", complied by Ronald B. Reynolds (1978), p. 164, Sarah's sister Mary WEED is also erroneously stated to be the dau. of Gideon WEED & Sarah WATERBURY. Inasmuch as Reynolds cites, correctly, dates indicating that Sarah WATERBURY would have been but 14 years old when Mary was born in 1740, and that Sarah did not marry Gideon until 1751, it is somewhat surprising that the error was not noticed The source of confusion appears to lie in a misinterpretation of the 1790 will of Gideon WEED, Jr. (Stamford Probate Records, vol. 8, p. 46), who was the brother of Sarah and mary (and Jabez,Jr.). Gideon, Jr. was the namesake and first cousin once removed, not the son of the Gideon WEED who married Sarah Waterbury. These relationships were not recognized in SLAUSON-SLAWSON-SLOSSON Family (1948), compiled by George C. Slawson, in which, p. 26, Mary WEED is given as the daughter of Gideon. It is from this source that subsequent researchers have been led astray. The true parentage of the siblings established by the will of Gideon WEED, Jr., was revealed in the typescript "BATES, Sellack, and Allied Families of Stamford, Norwalk, and Fairfield, Connecticut," by Henry S. Gorham (1938), Vol. 1, p. 26. Gorham utilized Conn, vital records and Stamford church records to prove that Jabez WEED and Mary BATES were parents of Mary (1940-1826), Jabez (1743-1829), Sarah (b. 1748) and Gideon (ca. 1750-1791).
