Mrs. Phebe, widow of the late Mr. Elisha Purdy, of Kensico, died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Wm. P. Horton, at New Castle, on Sunday morning last, Jan. 16th, aged 80 years and 6 months. Mrs. Purdy was born in the town of Greenburgh, her maiden name being Odell. While she was young her family moved to Kensico, where she lived and was married, and spent all her life there. Her husband died about 15 years ago, but she continued to live on the old homestead until it was taken by the city for the new water works and dam now located there. Then she moved up to New Castle, and made her home with her daughter. She was a devout and consistent Christian, and a fervent member of the M.E, Church. The funeral services were held at her late residence on Wednesday. Rev. G.W. Terbush, of the New Castle M. E. Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. W. E. Ketcham, of New York, who was her pastor at Kensico, some twenty years ago. The interment took place at White Plains, her remains being laid alongside those of her husband.
She leaves one daughter? Mrs. W. F. Horton; and three sons?Evander
Purdy, who also lives at Mr. Horton's, and Moses and Elisha, who live, at Kensico. She also leaves three brothers Harry Odell, of New Castle, Isaac, and Wm. Odell, of Tarrytown.
