    On 20 December, 1747, he and wife, Hannah, deeded to Thomas Lawton 43 acres of land at Westerly, R.I. On 7 January, 1753, he deeded to Edmond Pendleton land at Westerly. 22 january, 1753, he deeded other land to Edmond Pendleton. On 5 April, 1753, he and Hannah, his wife, deeded to nathaniel Lewis, of Charlestown certain land at Westerly, R.I. On 24 August, 1756 was chosen Deacon of Sabbatarian Church, but did not accept. On 8 November, 1757, he, then of Hopkinton, deeded to Colony of Rhode Island 13 acres of land in Hopkinton. Recorded 15 December 1757. On 16 November, 1762, he deeded to son Joshua Clarke, Jr., land at Hopkinton, R.I. Recorded 7 December, 1762. In May, 1768, he was ordained Elder. He appears in census of 1774, as of Hopkinton, with 4 males over, 4 under, and 3 females over, 16 and negro servant=12. His will, dated 31 July 1792, proved at Hopkinton 1 April, 1793,mentions wife Hannah, sons Ethan, Thomas, Arnold, Henry, Willet and Job Bennett; daughters, Hannah and Elizabeth Maxson; grandsons, Joshua, sons of Phineas, and Joshua C. Maxson, son of Jesse (Maxson); granddaughter Hannah, daughter of Phineas. Appoints his son Phineas executor.

    He was a member of the Legislature and a Trustee of Brown University. He took part in the colonial and revolutionary Wars.

    He was baptized in 1706, and in Baptist Church list at Westerly in 1718 and 1740. 1718, February 27, Thomas Clarke and Elizabeth, his wife, deeded to Capt. Samuel Babcock, land at Westerly R.I., recorded 1718, February 27. 1718, March 23, thomas Clarke, of Westerly, gave a deed of Stonington land, recorded at Stonington, Conn., 1718, March 23. he was ordained Deacon of Church 26 August, 1735. 1740, February 17, he deeded to son Thomas Clarke "100 acres of land in the town of Westerly on ye North end of my farm I now live in, bounded"***"which land was given to me by my honored father, Mr. Joseph Clarke, deceased." He was chosen Assistant Elder 2nd October, 1750. He, by deed dated 25 January, 1765, conveyed to son Joseph Clarke certain land at Westerly. The deed was witnessed by Joshua, Jr., and Hannah Clarke. 1768, will of Elder Thomas Clarke, of Westerly, dated 1766, August 10; proved 1768, January 25; recorded 1768 January 25, at Westerly; mentions granddaughter Mary, wife of Peleg Saunders; son Joshua, son Joseph and daughter Sarah Burdick, wife of Edward Burdick.
