    His mother, Eglin, was sister of Timothy Hatherly, the founder of Scituate, and came over in 1634, ae. 46, with her daus. Lettice (who m. 8 apr. 1635, Edward Foster) and Margaret (who m. 1636, Isaac Robinson). Thomas appears to have come later, perhaps after completing his education, and was in Scituate by 1643; taught school in Roxbury, Mass., freeman of Mass., 1650, and soon after settled in Norwalk.

    Notes:

    Name:
    William Comstock arrived in the Massachusetts Colony about 1635, with his wife (2) Elizabeth Daniel, and four or five of his children. Shortly thereafter, he moved to Wethersfield CT.

    He was one of 26 men from Wethersfield in the expedition commanded by Capt. John Mason that captured the Pequot fort at Mystic CT.

    About 1650, he moved his family to New London, where he had received a grant of land in 1647. He worked with John Winthrop to establish a corn mill, and in 1651 he "wrought on the mill dam". This mill is still in existence.

    In 1662, "Olde Goodman Comstock" was elected Sextant, "to order youth in the meeting house, sweep the meeting house and beat out dogs," at 40 shillings per year, to dig all graves, and have 4s for an adult grave, and 2s for children.

    The date of his death is unknown, but the history of New London states that he lived to an old age, on Post Hill near the north corner of Williams and Vauxhall streets.

    The Comstocks had six children; John b.1624, Samuel b.1628, Daniel b. 1630, Elizabeth b.1633, Christopher b. 1635.

    Name:
    Richard, son of George and Mary Platt, was baptised 6 May 1604 at Ware, Hertford, England. He married 26 January 1628/29 in Roydon, Essex, England Mary Wood daughter of John and Jane Wood.

    Richard, Mary and children Mary, John, Isaac, Samuel and Sarah came to New England in 1638. They first settled at New Haven, CT and by 1640 had removed to lot #38 West Main and Cherry Street in Milford. Milford is where the rest of Richard and Mary's children were born--Epenetus, Josiah, Hannah and Joseph.

    Richard was a tailor and joined the Milford church on 19 January 1639/40. He made his will 24 January 1683/84 at Milford and the inventory of his estate is dated 13 February 1684/85.

    The picture of the memorial stone placed on the Founder's Bridge over the Wepawaug River in Milford shows Richard's name along with that of his wife. The Platt stone on the Milford Memorial Bridge reads:
    "DEACON RICHARD PLATT
    Obit 1684
    MARY His Wife."

    Richard was buried in his Orchard in Milford, CT.

    Name:
    The daughter of John & Jane Wood of Roydon, Co. Essex, England. She was baptized on November 10th or 11th in Roydon, Co. Essex, England. Richard Platt and Mary Wood were married on 26 January 1628/1629 in Roydon. On 25 April 1638, Richard & Mary sold their property in Ware (which is four miles southeast of Roydon) in England, and prepared to sail to New England.

    The family was first at New Haven and by 1640 were in Milford (lot #38 West Main and Cherry Street). Mary joined the Milford church on 29 January 1639/40 the same year as her husband.

    Mary precedeased her husband, and the exact date of her death is unknown, but Milford Church records show that she was buried on March 24, 1675/1676. She is NOT buried a the Founders Memorial Site. Most all of the early settlers were buried in Rev. Peter Prudden's garden until around 1675, and after that they were buried in an extension of his garden which is presently the oldest part of the Milford Cemetery.
