Hester INGERSOLL

Notes:

"A Genealogy of the Ingersoll Family" - Mrs. Hester Jones was captured and taken to Canada as a prisoner. She was obliged by her captors to make the whole journey on foot and suffered many hardships and was treated with much cruelty.
She eventually died in Canada, after enduring many tortures by the French priests, in their vain endeavors to convert her from the Puritan faith to the Roman Catholic religion.

Hester married William GURLEY in 1684. William died on 01 May 1687 in drowning. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

1. Samuel GURLEY was born on 06 May 1686 in Northampton, Hampshire Co., Massachusetts; died on 23 Feb 1760 in Coventry, Tolland Co., Connecticut.

Hester married Benoni JONES on 23 Jan 1689. Benoni died on 13 May 1704. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Name:
At the time of his marriage to Dorothy, he was thirty-six years old and his wife twenty. In 1655, he moved from Hartford, Conn., to Northampton, Mass., where his daughter Margery, was born. His wife died in giving birth to her. He signed the church covenant there June 18, 1661. Two years later he had contributed three acres of lad towards the settlement of a minister at Northampton.

John married Abigail BASCOM on 12 Dec 1657. Abigail was born about 1640; was christened on 7 Jun 1640 in Windsor, Connecticut; died in Apr 1666. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
