    ________________________________________________

Monday morning at an early hour, John W. Pratt, aged 84, died at his home in First Street, this city, after a continuous residence here of over 77 years. Mr. Pratt had been in feeble health for several months and his death was not unexpected. The deceased had been a successful business man, with a keen interest in all that related to Fulton and its welfare, and his tall figure was very familiar to our residents, as he daily traversed our streets, even after age and disease had made it a task for him to get about. The funeral will be held from his late home Wednesday, the Rev. Vincent officiating, and the body will be laid to rest in the family vault in Mount Adnah. John W. Pratt, son of Timothy and Hannah Baynor Pratt, was born at Manlius Square, August 4, 1818. At the age of 27 John W. began business for himself, renting from his father a portion or his mill property. He built boats extensively; he afterwards went on to Tonawanda and continued in this line. While actively engaged in building and milling, he had also a large farming interest....... the rest of obit is illegible.
