    Notes:

    It is said that he was one of the seven men who, during the attack upon Deerfield, Mass., successfully defended the house which took fire after the Indians left. they pursued the Indans and David was killed the same day in the "Fight in Deerfield medow", Feb. 29, 1703-4.

    David married Mary Hannah EDWARDS on 14 Apr 1699 in Deerfield, Franklin Co., Massachusetts.     Thomas, together with his wife and children, Jonathan, Sarah, Ebenezer, and Abigail was captured in 1704, and perished by starvation on the march to Canada.

    "Families of Early Guilford, Conn." - In the assault of the French and Indians upon Hadley, 29 February 1704, Dea. David Hoyt, his wife, and 4 children Jonathan, Sarah, Ebenezer and Abigail, were made prisoners and carried away for Canada. Dea. David perished with hunger near the lower Cohoes. the wife and two older children came back, but Ebenezer remained in the country. Mrs. Hoyt afterwards married Dea. Nathaniel Rice. The youngest child was killed on the road.
