  1. 2.  Hon. Thomas Denny HAMMOND was born on 16 Aug 1791 in Pittsford, Vermont (son of Col. Thomas HAMMOND and Hannah CROSS); died on 30 Mar 1841 in Orwell, Vermont.

    Notes:

    Excerpt from "History and Genealogies of the Hammond Families in America Vol 2": He obtained a good common school education, and taught school several years. After his marriage he located on the home farm at Pittsford with his brother, German, but in 1820 removed to Orwell and engaged in mercantile business with Mr. Austin. He was elected to the General Assembly in 1828 and 1829 and State Senator in 1836 and 1837. He served in the war of 1812, being the first man in town to enlist. He held the rank of Orderly Sergeant.
