  1. 2.  Capt John GALLUP was born in 1676 in Stonington, New London Co. Connecticut (son of John GALLUP and Elizabeth HARRIS); died on 29 Dec 1755 in Voluntown, Connecticut.

    Name:
    He removed to Voluntown about 1710, and was one of the early settlers of that town, taking up a large tract of land there. At the first town meeting held in the town June 20, 1721, he was chosen one of the selectmen, was active in securing religious privileges for the early settlers, giving three acres of land as a site for a meeting house and burial ground, and one of a committee to build a house of worship, and was chosen one of the ruling elders of the first church formed i the town, 1723, which was Presbyterian.

    John married Elizabeth WHEELER in 1709 in Stonington, New London County, Connecticut. Elizabeth (daughter of Isaac WHEELER and Martha PARKE) was born on 26 May 1683 in Stonington, New London, Connecticut, USA; died on 14 Apr 1735 in Voluntown, Connecticut. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
