    Excerpt from "Old Families of Salisbury and Amesbury: Samuel was the second of the twelve who obtained the original grant for Salisbury; his name stands first on both the list of thirty-seven and that of sixty-nine; he recd. land in the "first division," 1640 and '41; rep. Salisbury in the General Court 1641-'5. He came to Mass. with his father in 1630' res. Cambridge 1631, and Ipswich 1635, then in Salis. about 12 years; and was a settled minister at Exeter, New Hampshire, from about 1650 till his death.

    Excerpt from "A Genealogical Register of the First Settlers of New England 1620-1675": Samuel came to N.E. and resided in Cambridge, Boston, and Salisbury, and finally settled at Exeter as the minister of that town, and there died in 1683. He was representative of Salisbury at the March and May sessions 1644.
