Hugh Luttrell, Knt., of Dunster, co. Somerset, M.P, for Somerset and Devon, younger son and eventual heir, was born about or probably before 1364. He married before 1384 Katherine Beaumont. They had two sons and four daughters. Sir Hugh Luttrell died aged about sixty-four on 24 Mar 1428, apparently while on a visit to one of his daughters, a nun at Shaftesbury, Dorset.

He served in the Scottish and French wars, and was Knight Banneret on 20 Jan 1327. he was summoned to Parliament on 23 Apr 1337 by writ directed 'Hugoni de Courteney juniori' and succeeded to the Earldom three years afters. They had eight sons (of whom only three had issue) and nine daughters three years afters.
