On 9 March 1795 John Alden of Middleborough, yeoman, gave to his two sons Seth and Elihu (under age 21) both of Middleborough, seventy acres of upland and meadow being part of the farm "whereon I now dwell given to me by my father by will excepting small piece of land I sold my brother David since deceased", 3 acres of meadow bought of David; another 21 acres; 3 acres bought of his brother Joseph; 25 acres given him by his father in his will; another 31 acres; and half of the tenth lot in the Great Cedar Swamp. On 18 June 1796 Elihu Alden of Reedfield, Maine, trader, sold his half of the above lands to Seth Alden (Plymouth Co LR, 87:212-13).

He was of readfield on 2 January 1798 when he inventoried an estate in Lincoln County (Lincoln Co PR, 316-17). Indexes to Kennebec County court records list Elihu Alden of Readfield in July 1799, and of Dixmont in September 1801 and June 1802.

Elihu is not found in the census indexes for 1800, 1820, or 1830. In 1810 the household of Elihu Alden of Dixmont includes one male under age 10, one male 16-26, one male 26-45, two females under 10, one female 10-16, one female 26-45 (M252-11, P. 575).

Lyda Alden, widow, relinquished her right to serve as administratrix of the estate of her late husband Elihu Alden, 25 June 1833. Administration was granted to Elihu Alden, yeoman, in the estate of Elihu Alden, yeoman late of Dixmont, 30 July 1833 (Penobscot Co PR, 5:355).

In 1840, Lydia was undoubtedly the female age 60-70 in the household of her son Elihu Alden of Dixmont (M704-149, p.234 indexed as Elishu). In 1850, Lydia Alden, age 74 is listed with Elihus family (M432-265, p. 394), and also in 1860, when she was age 83 (M653-445, p433).

Elihu married Lydia MITCHELL on 1 Jul 1796 in Readfield, Maine. Lydia was born in 22 or 25 Apr 1777 in Readfield, Maine; died on 10 Sep 1864 in Dixmont, Maine. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

John married Rebecca WESTON on 12 Jul 1750 in Middleborough, Massachuetts. Rebecca (daughter of Zachariah WESTON and Mehitable SHAW) was born on 25 Nov 1730 in Middleborough, Massachusetts; died on 16 Jun 1807 in Middleborough, Massachusetts. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

John married Hannah WHITE before 18 May 1702 in Middleboro, Massachustts. Hannah was born in 05 or 12 May 1681 in Weymouth, Norfolk County, Massachusetts; died on 05 Oct 1732 in Middleboro, Massachusetts. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Notes:

Excerpt from "Mayflower Families in Progress-George Soule": the will of Zachariah Weston of Middleboro, yeoman, dated 27 Sept. 1763, proved 24 april 1764, leaves all to wife Mehitable.

Zachariah married Mehitable SHAW on 20 Jun 1717 in Plympton, Massachusetts. Mehitable was born on 12 Jan 1694 in Plymouth, Massachusetts; died after 27 Sep 1763 in Plympton, Massachusetts. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
