    Hanford Shultis

    Hanford 'Hank' Shultis, 81, died suddenly Thursday, April 2, 2009 at his home in Sun City, Ariz.
    He was born March 28, 1928, the son of John and Mildred Shultis.
    Hank grew up on a farm in Denver, N.Y. He enlisted in the Army reserves in 1945 and served in the Army Signal Corp.
    In 1948 he married Eleanor Davidson and the couple raised five children on the dairy farm in Denver. He gave up farming in 1968 and went into the insurance business moving to Cobleskill and later Fonda.
    Always active in the community, he was a member of the United Methodist Church, president of the local Eastern Milk Producers, President of the Roxbury PTA and very active in the Masonic Lodge, where he held many prestigious positions including Grand Master of Masons for the State of New York, High Priest of the Margaretville chapter of Royal Arch Masons, member of Cyprus Temple, Albany and played saxophone for the Cyprus Temple brass band as well as the Schoharie County Concert band and numerous other local bands.. He was also a member of the international association of arson investigators and was deputy sheriff of Montgomery County arson investigator.
    The couple retired to Arizona.
    Surviving is a son, Edward Shultis of Roxbury and four daughters, Susan and Patricia Shultis of Arizona, Linda Shultis-Hoffman of Middleburgh and Amy Sanford of Fonda; six grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, George and a sister, Bernice Knight and companion Elizabeth Jones.
    He was predeceased by his wife, Eleanor, of 51 years, on April 10, 2000.
    A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 5 at 1 p.m. at the Jay Gould Memorial Church in Roxbury.

    NEW KINGSTON - John B. Walker, 84, died February 14, at Delaware Valley Hospital Walton, after an extended illness.

    Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury, with the Rev. Arthr Kopp, of Bainbridge, officiating. Burial will be in the Kelly Corners Cemetery.

    Mr. Walker was born June 13, 1882 at Denver, N.Y., son of George and Martha (Alton) Walker. He married Stella Saluson Walker who died in 1963.

    He was member of Wawaka Grange. He owned and operated a dairy farm at Denver for 41 years, and had been a resident of New Kingston for the past 17 years.

    He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. John Shultis, Kelly Corners: three grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; four nephews and on niece.

    Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience. The family will be present from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

    NEW KINGSTON-Stella E. Walker, 82, died March 29 at the Margaretville Hospital, where she had been a patient for the past nine days.

    Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, April 1, at the Old School Baptist Church, Halcottsville, with Elder W. D. Griffin, officiating.

    Burial will be in the Kelly Corners Cemetery.

    She was born June 30, 1880, in the Town of Roxbury, a daughter of Orrin and Melissa (Craft) Slauson. She was married to John Walker Dec. 25, 1902, at Vega.

    She was a member of the Vega Old School Baptist Church and had been a resident of New Kingston for the past 14 years. Previously she and Mr. Walker operated a daity farm at Denver for 41 years.

    Surviving are her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Mildred Shultis, Denver; three grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. James E. Peet of Miami, Fla.; on niece and two nephews.

    Friends may call at her home at New Kingston.

    Funeral arrangements are by the Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury.
