    Name:
Details of death: Vera was in her apartment at colonial Vista in Wenatchee Washington, she got up and was in the bathroom when Mr. Edwards, her current husbad, heard a noise. He got up to investigate and found her on the floor, she had suffered a stroke. She lost her ability to talk, but as time passed she regained enough to be able to hold a restricted conversation, however, she did not lose her ability to read. I think that is what kept her sane.

When she was first diagnosed as a stroke victim a nurse came into diagnose her speech patterns. Vera (Mom) was instructed to answer with just "Yes" or "No". Mom never answered with just yes or no. She would always add more information.

The nurse would ask questions such as: what day is it? who is the president? Is it raining outside? Mom answered Yes, but, or well, followed by gibberish. She just would not answer yes or no.

Mom was put in a nursing home because she needed to be watched 24/7. As the months passed she became more and more senile. When we were warned she was near death my sisters and I came to be at her side. She was very weak and unable to speak, but as we held her hand, spoke of our love for her and thanked her she quietly passed through the veil.
