Name:
Benjamin Wheelock was one of the proprietors of the town of Mendon, Mass., and his name appears on the founders' monument now standing on "Mendon's Sacred Ground", a park where the early settlement was made. He was the owner of an early corn mill in Mendon, and in 1713 made over the mill privilege to his sons Benjamin and Obediah. The death of Benjamin Wheelock is not shown in Mendon records, neither has any record been found of the settlement of his estate.

Benjamin married Elizabeth BULLEN on 21 May 1668 in Medfield, Norfolk Co., Massachusetts. Elizabeth was born in 1646/7 in Massachusetts; died in 1689. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Name:
Mendon, Mass., printed vitals show the death of Elizabeth, wife of Benjamin Wheelock, as Oct. 22, 1689, but there appears to be some doubt as to the accuracy of that record, since Benjamin and Elizabeth had children born in Mendon after that date. Possibly Benjamin Wheelock had a second wife, also named Elizabeth, of whom we know nothing.
