Excerpt from "New England Families Genealogical and Memorial: third Series, Vol. IV": George settled in Woodtock, Vermont. The Treman Genealogy states that he served on General Washington's staff in the revolution. The Connecticut rolls show that George P. Ransom was a resident of "Westmoreland", enlisting January 1, 1777, and till in the service January 1, 1780. His name appears in the list of non-commissioned officers and privates in Captain Spalding's independent company, in the expedition to Wyoming, Pennsylvanis. The Wyoming companies wre united June 23, 1778, under Captain Spalding.
George married Anna TIFFANY on 03 Mar 1768 in Lyme, Connecticut. Anna was born in 1740; died on 27 Feb 1800; was buried in Ransom-Kendall Cemetery, South Woodstock, Windsor Co., Vermont. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Excerpt from "New England Families Genealogical and Memorial: Third Series, Vol. IV": Joseph was a husbandman, residing in Lyme, Connecticut. He was a captain of Connecticut troops in the expedition against Quebec under General Wolfe, and fell on the Plains of Abraham. Two of his sons also served in the colonial army in his company. He sold the lands granted to his father in Saybrook, April 15, 1715.
