Ingham County News January 7 1960 issue; "Austin Smith 86 who lived at the corner of Eifert and West Columbia road died Thursday night at Robert Nursing home.

He is survived by a daughter Mrs. Esther Jones; sons Lloyd C of Mason, Clifford H of Aurelius and Grant Ahrens of Holt; a brother Robert of Mason a sister Mrs. Grace Ahrens of Holt.

Funeral services were at Ball-Dunn funeral home Sunday with Rev. John Pruden officiating. Burial was in North Aurelius cemetery

A third son Grant was raised by sister of Austin Grace Ahrens; and went by name of Ahrens on most census and in obituary of Grace.
